Overview
A large-format, folding A1 poster inspired by the strategy board game Hive. The poster features illustration and design that highlight the simple geometric nature of the game while combining it with the colorful bugs that are the focus during play. The poster was designed to carefully fold such that viewers can enjoy content about the game on the back when unfolding, then display the main image on the front when turned around.

Process

1 / Set project schedule and thumbnail layout ideas

To begin the project, a schedule was created to complete the poster by a specific deadline. To create the poster a template was made to help layout the pages so the design would work when folded and unfolded.

2 / Write content, Illustrate bugs, fill in layout

After a layout was decided on and content was written, illustrations for each bug and images were compiled and placed on the poster. After editing and final adjustments, the poster was ready to be printed at a smaller test scale for critique before printing at the final large size.
